As the year concludes and numerous badminton players either take a break or intensify their training for the upcoming 2024 season, Seo Seung Jae, Loh Kean Yew, and Rian Ardianto seize this moment to announce their lifelong milestone of marriage or registration with their significant others. Badmintonplanet.com extends heartfelt congratulations to them and wishes them eternal happiness.

1. Seo Seung Jae & Wife Tie the Knot

Seo Seung Jae, the talented doubles player who had a remarkable year in the world of badminton, tied the knot with his wife on Christmas eve and embarked to the United States for their honeymoon!

The year 2023 has undeniably been a bountiful one for Seo Seung Jae. Despite a mixed doubles semi-final loss alongside Chae Yoo-Jung in the BWF World Tour Finals against Zheng Siwei/Huang Yaqiong, Seo and Kang Min-Hyuk defeated Liang Weikeng/Wang Chang of China 21-17, 22-20 to win the men’s doubles title at the BWF year-end event.

Seo and Kang also won the 2023 China Open, Korea Masters, Australian Open, and Malaysia Masters. At the crucial World Championships, Seo Seung Jae achieved an outstanding feat, winning gold in both mixed and men’s doubles (the first person to accomplish this since Kim Dong Moon did it in 1999). With professional success and a marriage celebration, Seo Seung Jae truly stands as a winner in life.

Notably, Seo Seung Jae chose to keep his wedding ceremony low profile, inviting only close family members. Teammates and coaches sent their blessings, but attendance was minimal. Even his mixed doubles partner, Chae Yoo-jung, was absent.

Of course, considering the wedding took place on the eve of Christmas, Seo Seung Jae took into account that many teammates had their own holiday plans and gatherings. Especially after the year-end finals, numerous players entered vacation mode. Seo Seung Jae wanted to ensure everyone had a good rest and celebrate the year end with joyful spirits.

2. Loh Kean Yew and Wife
After joyfully sharing the news of his successful proposal a year ago on Christmas Eve, Singapore’s top men’s singles badminton player, Loh Kean Yew, took to social media again on Christmas Day. This time, he shared pictures of himself and his wife in wedding attire, taken in Paris, and revealed that they would be celebrating their marriage anniversary in two months.

In his post, Loh Kean Yew wrote, “Celebrating our ROM Anniversary in about 2months 😛❤️

This festive season is extra special, I believe that to go far, one must go together. Here’s to new beginnings and to becoming a better self. I would like to take this moment to spread some love and kindness, wishing you the best of times with your family and loved ones ❤️🎄”

This was evident from the social media posts made by both Rian and Ribka on their respective Instagram accounts. In the posts, Rian and Ribka proudly display engagement rings on their ring fingers. Besides the couple’s photos, the series also includes pictures of the parents of both badminton players.

Rian, paired with Fajar Alfian, concluded their performance at the BWF World Tour Finals 2023 by reaching the semifinals but were defeated by the top-seeded Chinese pair, Liang Wei Keng/Wang Chang. The match went to a rubber game, with a score of 20-22, 21-12, 16-21, held at Hangzhou Olympic Sports Centre Gymnasium, Hangzhou, China, on December 16, 2023.
