New Delhi: Forbes recently unveiled the list of the top 20 highest-earning female athletes globally this year, with Indian badminton star PV Sindhu being the sole representative from the badminton world.

Currently ranked 11th in the world, Sindhu’s performance in the 2023 season was less than stellar, with her most notable achievement being a second-place finish at the Super 300 Spain Masters. Despite earning relatively modest prize money on the court, Sindhu’s off-court endeavors, including numerous endorsements, have solidified her position as the highest-earning female athlete in badminton.

Sindhu earned USD $100,000 on the court this year but amassed USD $7 million off the court, bringing her total income to USD $7.1 million. She shares the 16th spot on Forbes’ top 20 world’s highest-paid female athletes with American gymnastics star Simone Biles.

Poland’s tennis world champion Iga Swiatek topped the list with an income of USD $23.9 million. The ranking includes 12 tennis players, with two representatives each from golf and football, and one representative each from badminton, basketball, gymnastics, and skiing.
